 William H. Sheavly,CFP®began his career in the financial industry in 1981 with Investors Diversified Services Inc. In the nine years he was with IDS, he built up a thriving practice of over 300 clients. In 1989 he was named to the IDS Silver Team, an elite group of 200 planners out of a company wide 5,000. Also in 1989 he received the honor of being named the Nauheim Merit Scholar from the College for Financial Planning to pursue his professional designation of CFP® or Certfied Financial PlannerTM. After three years of intensive study he was conferred his designation in July of 1992.
In 1990 Bill left IDS to work for the investment subsidiary of Dominion Bank, Dominion Investment Banking, Inc. He presided over the operations of the Norfolk office and he and his staff assisted over 40 bank offices in the region with investment products and services.
Bill is a past President of the Financial Planning Association of Hampton Roads. He is currently a member of the Economics Club of Hampton Roads and the Wealth Advisor Institute.
Bill is now a Branch Manager, Registered Principal and OSJ for the Broker-Dealer firm of American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc.and an Investment Advisor Representative for the Advisory Firm of American Portfolios Advisors, Inc. He earned his Associate's Degree from Catonsville Community College in Baltimore and his Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Bill has FINRA licenses 6, 7, 22, 24 and 63 and is an Investment Advisor Agent under American Portfolios Advisors. He also maintains Virginia Life, Health and Annuity licenses. His CRD # is 1021142 and his CFP # is 042227.
Bill is an avid philatilist and is a member of the American Philatelic Society and the Virginia Beach Stamp Club.
